Turionics Setup Guide

Six steps to get your ticker on Wi-Fi and showing live crypto and stock prices. The whole thing takes about five minutes and needs only a phone or computer with a browser.

Step 1: Power On Your Device

Step 1: Power On Your Device

Connect your Turionics ticker to power using the included USB-C cable. Any of these work:

  • A USB wall adapter (5V / 1A or higher)
  • A laptop or computer USB port
  • A power bank

After a few seconds the display shows an 8-digit setup code (for example 25481379). Keep the device where you can read that code — you need it in the next step.

Step 2: Join the Turionics Wi-Fi Network

Step 2: Join the Turionics Wi-Fi Network

On your phone, tablet or laptop, open Wi-Fi settings and look for a network called:

Turionics.com-XXXXXX

Connect to it. When it asks for a password, enter the 8-digit code shown on the ticker display (from Step 1).

Your phone is now talking directly to the device. It is normal for your phone to say “No Internet” on this network — that is expected until Step 4 is done.

Step 3: Open the Control Panel

Step 3: Open the Control Panel

Once your phone joins the Turionics network, the ticker’s screen scrolls “OPEN TURIONICS.LOCAL”. Do that: open your usual browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox…), type this into the address bar and go:

turionics.local

The Turionics control panel opens.

If turionics.local does not load (this happens on some Windows PCs), use this address instead — it always works while you are connected to the Turionics network:

192.168.4.1

Type it exactly, with the dots. Do not add “www” and do not search for it — put it in the address bar.

Step 4: Connect the Ticker to Your Home Wi-Fi

Step 4: Connect the Ticker to Your Home Wi-Fi

You are now in the control panel. In the Wi-Fi Settings section at the top:

  1. Tap “Scan WiFi Networks”.
  2. Wait a moment, then pick your home network from the list.
  3. Enter your home Wi-Fi password (tap “Show” to check it). The ticker needs a 2.4 GHz network — almost every router has one.
  4. Tap “Save WiFi Credentials”.

The ticker connects to the internet and starts showing a live price. Setup is complete.

From now on you can reach the panel from any device on your home network at turionics.local (or the address shown under “Technical Information” in the panel). The Turionics network from Step 2 also stays available at 192.168.4.1 as a backup.

Step 5: Choose Your Coins, Stocks, and Display

Step 5: Choose Your Coins, Stocks, and Display

In What’s on Screen, under the Display Carousel card:

  • Pick a tab — Crypto, Stocks, Forex or Commodities — choose an item from the list and tap “+ Add”. Not in the list? Choose Other… at the end of the same tab and type it: a coin symbol (PEPE, SHIB), a Yahoo Finance ticker (PLTR, SAP.DE, ^GSPC), a currency pair (EURPLN) or a futures symbol (NG for natural gas). Stocks, pairs and commodities are labeled Stock, Forex or Commodity in your list. Gold is Gold in the Commodities tab (GC=F); GOLD in the Stocks tab is a company share, not the metal. Up to 100 entries, in any mix — they rotate automatically and you drag to reorder.
  • Switch every … seconds — how long each item stays on screen.
  • Preview — draws the first item in green dots, exactly as the display will show it, with the current price. You see how the name, sign and arrow fit before you save.
  • Crypto Price Source (the card above the Save button, tap Change) — Coinbase (default, works in all US states), Binance or Binance.US, for crypto only. Coins the chosen exchange does not list are pulled from the other exchange automatically. Stocks, forex and commodities always come from Yahoo Finance.
  • Currency — USD ($) or EUR (€), for crypto only. Stocks always show in the currency of their own listing (USD for AAPL, EUR for a German listing, and so on) and are not converted.
  • 24h Trend Arrow — a small arrow that shows whether the coin or stock is up or down (last 24 hours for crypto, since the previous market close for stocks). Choose Left edge or Right edge, and turn Animated on or off. It is off by default.
  • Show token name / Show currency sign / Sign before or after / Hide decimals — formatting, shared by all asset types. The text never scrolls: if it does not fit, Turionics shortens it on its own so the price is always shown in full.

In Display Control, drag the slider to set brightness (1–15). For a screen running 24/7 we suggest 5.

Night Mode (optional) dims or turns off the screen on a schedule. Switch on Enable Night Mode, choose Dim or Turn Off, set a Night Brightness (for Dim), a Start Time, an End Time and Your City / Timezone, then tap Save Night Mode Settings. Daylight saving time switches automatically.

Step 6: Save, and Keeping It Updated

Step 6: Save, and Keeping It Updated

⚠️ Save after every change. Each section has its own save button — “Save WiFi Credentials” and “Save Display Settings” and “Save Night Mode Settings”. Changes do not take effect until you save them.

Other controls, in Device Control:

  • Check for Updates → Update Firmware — installs the latest version over the internet; the device restarts on its own and keeps your settings. The ticker also checks by itself once an hour. It verifies the file before installing, and if a new version fails to start it rolls back to the previous one automatically.
  • Restart Device — reboots the ticker.
  • Clear Saved WiFi — forgets your home network (use this if you move house or change router).

There is no physical reset button: Wi-Fi is reset from the panel, and unplugging the power restarts the ticker.

Troubleshooting

Make sure your phone is still connected to the Turionics.com-XXXXXX Wi-Fi network (phones sometimes jump back to your home network because the Turionics one has no internet). Then open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1 — type it in the address bar, with the dots, don't search for it. That address always works while you are on the Turionics network.

Some Windows PCs cannot open .local addresses. Use 192.168.4.1 instead while connected to the Turionics network, or install Apple Bonjour (bundled with iTunes) if you want the name to work.

Unplug the ticker and plug it back in — the code is shown on the display again at startup.

Check the password (tap “Show”), make sure your router has a 2.4 GHz band enabled (not 5 GHz only), and try rebooting the router. The device access point stays available the whole time, so you can always reconnect and try again.

Open Technical Information in the panel and check the internet connection status. For a coin, check the symbol: the ticker already pulls coins the selected exchange does not list from the other exchange, so a coin stuck on NO DATA is usually mistyped or not on Coinbase or Binance at all. For a stock, make sure the ticker exists on Yahoo Finance — and remember it only updates while that stock's market is open; outside trading hours it correctly holds the last closing price.

The ticker got no price for the coin or stock on screen for a while — about 20 seconds if it never priced since startup, or about 2 minutes if prices were working and then stopped everywhere. This usually means the symbol is mistyped, or not listed on Coinbase or Binance (coins) or on Yahoo Finance (stocks). Check the symbol in the list and save. A stock paused because its market is closed shows its last closing price, not NO DATA.

A short Wi-Fi drop is invisible: the ticker keeps the last price on screen while it reconnects. If your home Wi-Fi stays down about 2 minutes, the display shows NO DATA; after about 10 minutes without Wi-Fi, it falls back to the 8-digit setup code so you can reconnect it. When the network returns it reconnects on its own and prices resume. If it does not, restart your router or use Clear Saved WiFi and set it up again.

Each device also has its own unique address like turionics-XXXXXX.local, shown under “Technical Information” → “Unique Address”. Use that to reach a specific screen when several are on the same network.
