Every desk ticker that uses Yahoo Finance data needs the exact Yahoo symbol, and those aren’t always obvious. The S&P 500 is ^GSPC, not SPX. Gold is GC=F. Euro to dollar is EURUSD=X. This page lists the symbols people ask about most, each one checked against Yahoo Finance in September 2026, so you can copy them straight into your ticker.
The short version
US stocks and ETFs use their plain ticker: AAPL, NVDA, SPY, QQQ.
Indices start with a caret: ^GSPC (S&P 500), ^IXIC (Nasdaq), ^DJI (Dow), ^VIX.
Forex pairs end in =X: EURUSD=X, GBPUSD=X, USDJPY=X.
Gold, silver, oil and other commodities end in =F: GC=F, SI=F, CL=F.
Futures end in =F too: ES=F (S&P 500 futures), NQ=F (Nasdaq 100), BTC=F (CME Bitcoin).
U.S. Treasury yields start with a caret: ^TNX (10-year), ^TYX (30-year).
Futures trade almost around the clock, so they show where the market is heading before the opening bell. On Yahoo Finance they end in =F, and the symbol always follows the nearest contract, so you never have to change it when one expires.
Commodities on Yahoo are futures contracts, marked with =F. The number is the nearest contract’s price, which tracks the spot price closely but isn’t identical to it. Good enough for a glance; check a dealer for the exact spot price before you buy metal.
Add the exchange suffix after a dot. A few common ones: .DE Xetra (Germany), .L London, .PA Paris, .AS Amsterdam, .T Tokyo, .HK Hong Kong, .TO Toronto. Examples: SAP.DE, SHEL.L, 7203.T (Toyota). London prices come from Yahoo in pence, and the Turionics display converts them to pounds for you. If you’re unsure, search the company on finance.yahoo.com and copy the symbol shown in the page title.
Crypto
Yahoo lists coins as BTC-USD, ETH-USD and so on, and those work. On a Turionics ticker you don’t need them: type the plain coin symbol (BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE) and the price streams straight from Coinbase or Binance every second, instead of every 30 seconds. More than 1,000 coins are supported. See where a crypto ticker gets its price for how that works.
Open the control panel in any browser on the same Wi-Fi (the user manual shows how).
In What’s on Screen → Display Carousel, pick the Stocks, Forex or Commodities tab and choose from the list, or choose Other… and type the symbol. Every symbol on this page works in the Stocks tab exactly as written (firmware 1.4.4+); the Forex tab also accepts EURUSD or EUR/USD, and the Commodities tab adds =F for you. Your list labels each one Stock, Forex or Commodity so it’s never confused with a coin that shares the same letters.
Drag entries into the order you want. Up to 100 entries, any mix of crypto and everything else.
Each asset shows in the currency of its own listing: AAPL in dollars, SAP.DE in euros, the FTSE in pounds. Nothing is converted into USD behind your back. When a market closes, the display holds the last price and stops asking for updates until it reopens. The optional 24h trend arrow shows the change since the previous close for anything from Yahoo.
Use EURUSD=X. Other pairs follow the same pattern: GBPUSD=X, USDJPY=X, USDCAD=X.
Why doesn’t XAUUSD work?
Yahoo Finance doesn’t currently return data for XAUUSD=X. Use GC=F for gold and SI=F for silver instead.
Does the ticker show prices in dollars only?
No. Each asset shows in the currency Yahoo reports for it: euros for Xetra stocks, pounds for the FTSE, yen for the Nikkei. Crypto can be shown in USD or EUR.

US stocks
Type these exactly as they trade. Share classes use a hyphen on Yahoo, not a dot: Berkshire Hathaway B is
BRK-B.ETFs
ETFs work like stocks. They’re often a better choice than an index for a desk display, because their price is what you’d actually pay for a share.
